BIKEBOX ALAN LTD – TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE
Last updated: September 2026
Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before placing an order with BikeBox Alan Ltd.
These Terms & Conditions apply to purchases made directly from BikeBox Alan Ltd through our website, by telephone, email, invoice or another distance-selling method.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or restrict any statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
1. ABOUT BIKEBOX ALAN LTD

2. ORDER PLACEMENT & ACCEPTANCE
Placing an order with BikeBox Alan constitutes an offer to purchase.
Receipt of an automated order acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that we have accepted your order. A contract is formed when BikeBox Alan confirms acceptance of your order.
All orders are subject to availability and acceptance by BikeBox Alan Ltd.
We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order before acceptance where reasonably necessary, including due to:
- Pricing or website errors
- Stock availability
- Payment problems
- Suspected fraudulent activity
- Delivery restrictions
- An inability to fulfil the order
If BikeBox Alan cancels an order for which payment has already been taken, all amounts paid to BikeBox Alan for the cancelled order will be refunded using the original payment method where possible.
3. PAYMENT
Payment must be made in full before an order is dispatched unless BikeBox Alan has expressly agreed alternative payment terms in writing.
We accept the payment methods displayed on our website or specified on an invoice/payment link.
An order will not normally enter final processing or dispatch until the required payment has been successfully received and cleared.
Separate payment terms may apply to approved trade, distributor, wholesale or other business customers where agreed in writing.
If payment is subsequently reversed, declined or subject to a valid chargeback, BikeBox Alan reserves its legal rights to recover any sums properly due.
4. BIKE COMPATIBILITY & FITTING
Customers are responsible for checking that the BikeBox model selected is suitable for their bicycle before ordering.
The measurements, diagrams, fitting information and compatibility guidance provided by BikeBox Alan are intended as a general fitting guide.
Bicycle geometry, frame dimensions, handlebars, integrated cockpits, seatposts, derailleurs, forks and other components vary considerably between manufacturers and models.
Depending on the bicycle and its dimensions, it may be necessary to remove, lower, loosen or reposition components including, but not limited to:
- Wheels
- Pedals
- Handlebars
- Rear derailleur/mech
- Saddle or seatpost
- Forks
If you are unsure whether your bicycle will fit, please contact us before ordering and we will be happy to assist.
Unless BikeBox Alan has expressly confirmed compatibility in writing following receipt of accurate measurements and information from the customer, purchasing a particular BikeBox model does not constitute a guarantee that a particular bicycle will fit without adjustment or removal of components.
A BikeBox is not considered faulty simply because a particular bicycle does not fit where the BikeBox itself conforms to its description and specifications.
5. MADE-TO-ORDER & PERSONALISED PRODUCTS
Many BikeBox Alan products are manufactured, prepared or finished following receipt of an order.
Where a product is made to the customer’s specifications or is clearly personalised, statutory change-of-mind cancellation rights may not apply.
This may include products incorporating genuinely customer-specific features such as:
- The customer’s own name
- Individual wording
- Bespoke artwork
- Customer-supplied logos or graphics
- Other genuinely customer-specific modifications
Customers are responsible for checking all names, spelling, flags, logos and other personalisation information before confirming their order.
Once personalised items have been produced or applied, they may not be refundable unless faulty, incorrectly supplied or otherwise required by law.
Selecting a standard BikeBox model, standard colour or other standard option does not necessarily make a product personalised for the purposes of consumer legislation.
Nothing in this section affects statutory rights relating to faulty, damaged or misdescribed goods.
6. CANCELLING AN ORDER BEFORE DISPATCH
If you wish to change or cancel an order before dispatch, please contact BikeBox Alan as soon as possible.
Where the order is for a standard, non-personalised product and statutory cancellation rights apply, those rights will be honoured.
Where genuinely personalised or customer-specific goods have already entered production, cancellation rights may be restricted where permitted by law.
7. UK CONSUMERS – STATUTORY CANCELLATION RIGHTS
If you are a UK consumer purchasing an eligible product online or through another distance-selling method, you will normally have a statutory right to cancel your contract without giving a reason.
For goods, the normal statutory cancellation period ends 14 days after the day on which you, or a person nominated by you other than the carrier, receives the goods.
To exercise this right, you must inform BikeBox Alan of your decision to cancel within the applicable cancellation period by making a clear statement, for example by email.
Certain goods are excluded from statutory change-of-mind cancellation rights, including goods made to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalised.
These statutory rights are separate from our additional 28-day voluntary returns policy.
8. ORIGINAL DELIVERY CHARGES FOLLOWING A STATUTORY CANCELLATION
Where an eligible consumer validly exercises a statutory cancellation right, BikeBox Alan will refund the amount paid for the goods together with the applicable standard outbound delivery charge, where required by law.
If you selected a more expensive delivery method, such as Priority, Express or another enhanced service, BikeBox Alan will only refund the amount equivalent to the least expensive common and generally acceptable delivery method that was available for your order.
For example, if standard delivery was £45 and you selected Priority delivery at £55, the refundable delivery amount would normally be £45, rather than £55.
The additional amount paid for an enhanced delivery service is not refundable unless required by law.
9. IMPORTANT – RETURN CARRIAGE COSTS
BikeBox Alan products are large, oversized items and cannot normally be returned using standard postal services.
For eligible non-faulty returns, where permitted by law, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the BikeBox to us.
Due to the size of our products, return courier charges can be substantial, particularly for international customers. We therefore provide the following estimated return costs so customers can take these into consideration before placing an order:
| Collection location | Estimated return carriage to BikeBox Alan UK |
| UK Mainland | Approximately £80 |
| European Union | Approximately £300 |
| Ireland | Approximately £250 |
| USA | Approximately £600 |
| Canada | Approximately £1000 |
| Middle East | Approximately £600 |
These figures are based on indicative courier quotations for returning a BikeBox to our UK premises and are provided as a guide. Actual costs may be lower or higher depending on the collection address, courier rates, fuel surcharges and other applicable charges at the time of return.
Customers may arrange their own suitable tracked and adequately insured courier service.
Alternatively, BikeBox Alan may be able to arrange collection using our courier account. Where we arrange collection, we will confirm the actual return courier charge before the collection is booked. Where agreed, this amount may be deducted from your refund.
For destinations not listed above, please contact BikeBox Alan before ordering if you would like an estimate of the potential return cost.

10. BIKEBOX ALAN 28-DAY VOLUNTARY RETURNS POLICY
In addition to applicable statutory rights, BikeBox Alan offers a 28-day voluntary returns period on qualifying standard products.
To qualify under our voluntary returns policy:
- The product must be returned within 28 days of delivery.
- The product must not have been used for travel.
- It must be returned in its original cardboard packaging.
- It must be clean and undamaged.
- It must be in a condition suitable for resale.
- All original components and accessories must be returned.
For eligible non-faulty returns made under our voluntary returns policy, a £25 restocking fee will be deducted from the refund. This reflects the additional handling, inspection, repacking and administration involved in processing and returning the product to stock.
The customer is also responsible for the direct cost of returning the product to BikeBox Alan.
The £25 restocking fee does not apply where a customer is exercising a statutory right to cancel during the applicable statutory cancellation period.
Where the value of a returned product has been reduced because it has been handled beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning, BikeBox Alan may also make an appropriate deduction to reflect the actual reduction in value where permitted by law.
This voluntary policy does not apply to personalised or bespoke products, used BikeBoxes, ex-hire BikeBoxes, seconds or clearance/sale products unless BikeBox Alan expressly agrees otherwise.
Nothing in this voluntary returns policy affects your statutory rights.
This voluntary policy does not apply to personalised or bespoke products, used BikeBoxes, ex-hire BikeBoxes, seconds or clearance/sale products unless BikeBox Alan expressly agrees otherwise.
The £25 administration and handling charge does not apply to the exercise of statutory cancellation rights and nothing in this voluntary policy affects your statutory rights.
11. CONDITION OF RETURNED GOODS
Customers exercising statutory cancellation rights are entitled to inspect goods to the extent reasonably necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.
Where the value of the goods has been reduced because the customer has handled them beyond what is reasonably necessary for this purpose, BikeBox Alan may make an appropriate deduction from the refund to reflect the actual reduction in value where permitted by law.
Customers should therefore take particular care when test-fitting a bicycle.
Scratches, gouges, tyre marks, component damage, damaged fittings or other signs of excessive handling or use may reduce the value of the product.
No automatic restocking or administration fee will be charged in respect of a statutory cancellation.
12. REFUNDS
Where statutory cancellation rights apply, refunds will be processed within the timescales required by law.
BikeBox Alan may withhold a refund until we have received the returned goods or the customer has supplied evidence that the goods have been sent back, whichever occurs first, where permitted by law.
Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
Where BikeBox Alan has arranged return carriage on behalf of the customer and the customer has agreed to pay the return cost, the agreed return courier charge may be deducted from the refund.
13. FAULTY, DAMAGED OR MISDESCRIBED GOODS
BikeBox Alan is under a legal duty to supply goods that conform to the contract.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable legislation.
If a product is faulty, incorrectly supplied, materially different from its description or damaged before/during delivery to you, please contact us as soon as possible.
Photographs may be requested to allow us to assess the problem and, where relevant, raise a claim with the courier.
Where BikeBox Alan is legally responsible for the cost of returning faulty, damaged or misdescribed goods, we will arrange collection or reimburse reasonable return costs as appropriate.
14. DELIVERY DAMAGE
Please inspect your BikeBox as soon as reasonably possible following delivery.
If the external packaging or BikeBox appears damaged, we strongly recommend photographing the damage immediately.
Where possible, please sign for visibly damaged deliveries as damaged or not checked.
We ask that visible delivery damage, shortages or missing items are reported to BikeBox Alan as soon as reasonably possible, preferably within 48 hours, so that we can investigate promptly with the carrier.
Failure to report a problem within 48 hours does not remove statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Damage subsequently caused by airlines, airports, baggage handlers or other third parties is not a manufacturing defect and should normally be reported immediately to the responsible airline or third party.
15. DELIVERY TIMES
Delivery dates and timescales provided by BikeBox Alan or our couriers are estimates unless we have expressly agreed that delivery by a particular date is an essential term of the contract.
Courier services can occasionally experience delays caused by customs clearance, severe weather, transport disruption, security checks, high shipment volumes or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We strongly recommend ordering well in advance of your intended travel date.
If your order is time-sensitive, please contact us before ordering.
Nothing in this section affects statutory rights relating to delivery.
Risk During Delivery
For consumer orders, BikeBox Alan remains responsible for the goods until they come into the physical possession of the customer, or a person identified by the customer to take possession of the goods, except where the customer independently appoints a carrier who was not offered by BikeBox Alan, in which case different rules may apply.
Once the goods have been delivered into the customer’s physical possession, responsibility for subsequent loss or damage caused by airlines, airports, baggage handlers or other third parties does not pass back to BikeBox Alan.
16. INTERNATIONAL ORDERS
Customers outside the United Kingdom should carefully consider international delivery and potential return costs before ordering.
BikeBoxes are oversized international courier items and returning a non-faulty BikeBox to the UK can be extremely expensive.
Estimated return costs for several of our principal markets are provided in Section 8.
Where permitted by applicable law, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning non-faulty goods.
International orders may also be subject to:
- Import duties
- Customs charges
- VAT/GST
- Sales taxes
- Brokerage/clearance charges
- Other government or carrier charges
Unless expressly stated as prepaid on your order, these charges are the responsibility of the customer and are not included in the shipping charge paid to BikeBox Alan.
Where customs duties and taxes have been prepaid through BikeBox Alan, this will be shown on your order/invoice.
BikeBox Alan cannot guarantee that customs authorities will refund duties, taxes or other government charges if goods are subsequently returned. Customers may need to apply directly to the appropriate customs or tax authority.
Nothing in these Terms excludes mandatory consumer rights applicable to an international customer where those rights cannot legally be excluded.
17. CUSTOMS & IMPORT CLEARANCE
International delivery times do not include guaranteed customs-clearance times.
Customs authorities and couriers may request additional information from the recipient before releasing an international shipment.
Customers are responsible for responding promptly to reasonable customs or courier requests relating to their shipment.
BikeBox Alan will provide reasonable assistance where required.
18. INCORRECT ADDRESS, REFUSED DELIVERY & FAILED DELIVERY
Customers are responsible for providing an accurate and complete:
- Delivery address
- Postcode/ZIP code
- Email address
- Contact telephone number
Where additional courier charges arise because a customer has supplied incorrect or incomplete information, refused delivery, failed to provide necessary customs information or caused repeated unsuccessful delivery attempts, those additional costs may be charged to the customer where permitted by law.
19. 7-YEAR WARRANTY
BikeBox Alan provides a 7-year warranty for personal, non-commercial use covering faulty manufacturing and qualifying faulty parts.
This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights and does not replace or restrict them.
Approved hire companies and commercial users receive a 2-year commercial warranty.
The warranty is not transferable and proof of purchase may be required.
Warranty exclusions
The warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear.
- Caster wheel tyre wear/cuts unless present and reported on initial delivery.
- Damage caused by airlines, airports or other third parties.
- Damage caused by misuse, neglect or inappropriate packing.
- Cosmetic damage resulting from normal travel and handling.
- Stickers.
- Accessories where the issue is normal wear and tear.
- Apple AirTag/GPRS or other third-party tracking devices beyond the applicable manufacturer’s warranty.
Caster wheel chassis are covered where the relevant warranty conditions are met.
Even where damage falls outside our warranty, we encourage customers to contact us and we will always try to assist where reasonably possible.
Your existing warranty also states that airline/third-party negligence and certain consumable items are excluded. Pasted markdown
20. AIRLINE & THIRD-PARTY DAMAGE
BikeBox Alan products are designed to withstand the normal demands of bicycle travel; however, no travel case can prevent every form of damage caused by excessive or negligent handling.
Damage caused by an airline, airport, baggage handler or other third party is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Customers should inspect their BikeBox and bicycle before leaving the airport/baggage collection area wherever reasonably possible.
Any airline damage should be reported immediately to the airline or baggage-handling representative so that a damage report/claim can be opened.
21. COMMERCIAL, TRADE & HIRE PURCHASES
Consumer cancellation rights apply to individuals acting wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession.
Business-to-business, distributor, trade, hire-fleet and other commercial purchases may be subject to separate terms and do not automatically benefit from consumer cancellation rights.
Where BikeBox Alan has agreed separate written commercial terms with a customer, those terms will apply to the extent stated.
BikeBox Alan’s standard commercial/hire warranty is 2 years.
22. EX-HIRE, SECONDS & USED BIKEBOXES
Ex-hire, seconds and used BikeBoxes may show signs of previous use and will be described accordingly.
BikeBox Alan’s voluntary change-of-mind returns policy does not apply to ex-hire, seconds or used BikeBoxes unless expressly agreed otherwise.
Nothing in this section excludes statutory rights relating to goods being as described, of satisfactory quality or fit for their stated purpose where those rights apply.
23. PRODUCT COLOURS & APPEARANCE
We make reasonable efforts to display BikeBox colours and products accurately.
Colours shown on computer, tablet and mobile screens can vary from the appearance of the physical product due to screen settings, lighting and manufacturing variations.
Minor colour variations do not necessarily constitute a defect.
24. WEBSITE INFORMATION
While we make reasonable efforts to keep our website information accurate and up to date, product specifications, compatibility information, measurements, availability and other website content may occasionally be updated or changed.
Bike compatibility information and fitting guidance are provided as general guidance only because bicycle geometry and component configurations vary considerably between manufacturers, models and model years.
If compatibility with a particular bicycle is essential to your purchase, please contact BikeBox Alan before ordering and provide the requested measurements so that we can assist.
25. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All BikeBox Alan trademarks, trade names, photographs, graphics, videos, text, product materials and other intellectual property remain the property of BikeBox Alan Ltd or their respective rights holders.
Website content may be viewed and printed for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Protected BikeBox Alan content may not be reproduced, modified, distributed or used commercially without prior written permission.
Automated extraction, scraping, data mining or systematic copying of BikeBox Alan website content, product information, photographs, measurements or other proprietary content for commercial purposes is prohibited except where permitted by law or with our prior written consent.
26. USER-GENERATED CONTENT
Where customers submit reviews, photographs, comments or other content through our website or other BikeBox Alan channels, they must not knowingly submit material that is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, obscene, infringes another person’s intellectual-property rights or otherwise violates applicable law.
BikeBox Alan reserves the right to moderate or remove content where reasonably necessary.
27. THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES
Our website may contain links to websites or services operated by third parties.
BikeBox Alan is not responsible for the content, availability, security, terms or privacy practices of third-party websites.
28. PRIVACY
Personal information is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection legislation.
29. TRAVEL, EVENTS & THIRD-PARTY LOSSES
BikeBox Alan is not responsible for loss, damage or delay caused by airlines, airports, baggage handlers, customs authorities or other third parties where the matter is outside BikeBox Alan’s responsibility.
Subject to any liability which cannot legally be excluded or restricted, BikeBox Alan will not be responsible for consequential or associated travel costs arising from matters for which BikeBox Alan is not legally responsible, including:
- Missed races, competitions or sporting events
- Race or event entry fees
- Flights or other transport costs
- Hotels or accommodation
- Bicycle hire
- Replacement equipment
- Loss of holiday or travel arrangements
- Other consequential travel expenses
Customers travelling with a bicycle and BikeBox are strongly advised to maintain appropriate travel and/or bicycle insurance covering their bicycle, BikeBox and associated travel arrangements.
Nothing in this section excludes or restricts liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or restricts a consumer’s statutory rights.
30. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts statutory consumer rights.
Subject to those rights, BikeBox Alan will not be responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was entered into.
Where a consumer purchases a BikeBox wholly or mainly for private purposes, BikeBox Alan is not responsible for business losses arising from that consumer purchase.
31. COMPLAINTS
If you experience a problem with an order or product, please contact BikeBox Alan in the first instance so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter.
Please provide your order number and any relevant photographs or information.
We aim to deal with complaints fairly and within a reasonable timeframe.
32. SEVERABILITY
If any provision or part of a provision of these Terms & Conditions is found by a court or other competent authority to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision or part will be treated as removed or modified to the minimum extent necessary.
The remaining provisions of these Terms & Conditions will continue in full force and effect
33. GOVERNING LAW & JURISDICTION
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also benefit from mandatory protections provided by the laws applicable to you where those protections cannot legally be excluded.
Nothing in these Terms deprives a consumer of mandatory rights or protections available under applicable law.
34. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
BikeBox Alan may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The Terms & Conditions applicable to an order will normally be those in effect and provided/made available to the customer at the time the order is placed.
