You’d be hard pressed to find a bike box that offers more protection than the Premium from BikeBox Alan. Inside its hard plastic shell is a thick foam lining and tough Velcro straps to hold your bike, bars, saddle, seat post (should they need to be removed) and even your helmet securely throughout the journey.
All that lot sits in one half of the clam shell case, while your wheels mount into the other using their quick-release skewers to keep them in place. The smart design prevents anything from rattling about and causing damage, and a central pillar also provides protection against crushing. Ensuring the pillar is properly located can be a fiddly job, but once in place it makes the case rock solid.
Wheels at each end mean you can trundle it along easily, while four clasps keep it closed tight. You’ll need to buy padlocks separately if you want to lock them though.
