Winter Kit Mistakes to Avoid
At this time of year, the weather tends to deteriorate rapidly. It will come as no surprise that when you’re cycling, you’re going to get hotter no matter what the weather. However, it’s still important that you dress accordingly.
1. Under & Over Dressing
If you set off on your bike wearing too many layers, you’ll end up overheating, too little and you’ll be too cold. Make sure you wear a sensible amount of clothing so that you don’t get too cold, you don’t want to be shivering your whole bike ride.
2. Don’t Forget About Your Fingers & Toes!
Obviously, you aren’t moving your fingers or toes too much when cycling so, invest in a good pair of cycling gloves and some thermal socks.
3. Bring Your Waterproofs
Even if it isn’t raining when you set off, it doesn’t mean it won’t start once you set off. The great thing about a waterproof jacket is that they can be rolled up so tiny that you can easily store it until needed. Not to mention, it’ll help keep you dry.
5. Take Sunglasses
You might think that it’s crazy to wear sunglasses on a winter bike ride, but they’re just as essential now as they are in the summer. Even in autumn and winter the sun can be just as bright and very low. They can also help keep the wind out of your eyes, preventing them from watering and blurring your vision.
